World AIDS Day 2009 go (RED)

~ December, 1 2009

Today, December 1st 2009 it’s World AIDS day, and all the major social media seem to be "au rendez-vous" to support the (RED) campaign, raising awareness and support the 33 million people living with HIV/AIDS all around the world.

Facebook launched early this morning a special fan page: Show your support. Help turn Facebook (RED). Go to our ’Turn Facebook (RED)’ tab!
They introduced a shop online related to the (RED) campaign.

Nike and (RED) have especially united to leverage the power of sport to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa : the brand made the "(RED) laces".
On the day before World Aids day some of the world’s best footballers joined Bono at an announcement of the partnership between NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) and (RED): Didier Drogba (Chelsea), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Andrei Arshavin (Arsenal), Marco Materazzi (Inter Milan), Denilson (Arsenal), Lucas Neill (Everton), Clint Dempsey (Fulham) and Seol Ki-Hyeon (Fulham), came together in London today to announce the partnership.

Join(Red) has dedicated a full channel on YouTube showing videos on "The Lazarus Effect": The miraculous power of AIDS medicine to give people the opportunity of a future where once there was no hope.
Many brands have also expressed their support on twitter, here is the Starbucks tweet: "Today is World AIDS Day. Starbucks is proud to be a part of (RED). Help us turn Twitter (RED). Use #red and turn your tweets the color red!".
